Become a Haxby Helper and make a BIG difference.

Haxby Helpers have been offering a helping hand to residents in Haxby and Wigginton for over thirty years.

Their clients are mostly elderly and our modest help enables them to remain independent in their own homes. In most cases they help with shopping in the village but they also need drivers who can give lifts (to the health centre, dentists, opticians) if shopping is not your thing.

The group needs new volunteers — regular or occasional. They fit around you. A co-ordinator phones each week to ask if you have availability for the following week. If you do you will be matched with a client at a time to suit you and most jobs take less than an hour.

Volunteers are men and women of all ages.

Are you a young parent at home? Are you newly retired? Could YOU help? You might need their help one day.
The scheme is entirely run by volunteers and is free to clients. Petrol mileage is paid to volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a Haxby Helper please phone 07907 700965 to speak to a co-ordinator who will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
