If you’ve driven past a vehicle on our roads sporting a funky livery, chances are it was created at Big Boolies in Malton!
Big Boolies are local designers and suppliers of bespoke branded clothing, merchandise, vehicle graphics and 4×4 restoration projects.

Despite being established during a recession, this family-run business has gone from strength to strength over the last 15 years—coming out on top, even after facing two tough lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Owners Gemma and Nick are passionate about helping local and nationwide businesses ensure they get their brand seen. After meeting at college, Gemma (who studied art and design) and Nick spent many years travelling to car, bike and 4×4 shows alongside their jobs, and decided to combine their passion for cars with design and set up Big Boolies in 2008. Big Boolies offers everything required for business branding, including logo design, vehicle graphics, clothing (embroidery, screen printing and DTF transfer printing), branded goods such as pens, mugs, promotional merchandise, signage, banners, stationery and much more.
Then in February 2017, born from years of missing ‘spannering’ and being obsessively passionate about 4x4s and Land Rovers in particular, Nick added Booler4x4 to the brand, giving clients the opportunity to have a custom-made 4×4 built or restored. Nick said: I’ve always loved Land Rovers and the Off Road scene, especially the old defenders and Land Rovers. I’m a bit of a Geek! I’ve now tailored, together with work colleague James Brown, a service for all projects from full nut and bolt restorations, bespoke interiors, welding and fabrication, and off-road preparation all to suit any budget.
Gemma said: “We couldn’t be prouder to share that we’ve recently marked our 15th anniversary in business. Through thick and thin, we’ve persevered with the support of both our local community and businesses alike. As husband and wife, we, and our team of staff, are all truly humbled and thankful for the sheer number of people and businesses who’ve willed us on through some very difficult times. Your unwavering support has been the backbone of our journey, and we can’t thank you enough.”
Gemma and Nick, along with their son Ethan and daughter Bryony, pride themselves on providing a personal touch service and remain fully involved and hands-on in all areas of the business.
Gemma added: “We’ve recently rebranded and introduced a new logo, and we are providing training with apprenticeships schemes with the aim of creating jobs for locals in the area.
“We are also beyond excited to announce that Booler4x4 will be making its television debut (hopefully this May) on the TV spin-off series of ‘Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics’! The series follows the journey of a vehicle purchased at a Matthewson’s Classic Car Auction in Thornton le Dale, before being repaired, restored and re-auctioned. Keep your eyes peeled for an incredible quality Land Rover restoration in the next few months auctions!”
