Malton District Male Voice Choir is seeking new members at the start of its twelfth full year as the region’s youngest, and probably now also one of its best-known, men’s singing groups.
“If those new year resolutions are proving difficult to stick to, try joining us”, said local singer Tom Todd, who created the choir in 2007. “It’s easy to join, great fun, lots of laughs and doesn’t take up a lot of time. It’s good for your health and social life too!” he added.
The invitation comes as the choir resumes practices late January at the start of what promises to be another active year. It meets Mondays at 7.30pm in Malton Baptist Church
“Whatever your age and background this is the ideal time to join us”, said Tom. “We now urgently need new members and can guarantee a very grateful welcome”, he said.
Choir Musical Director Vivien Wilcock added: “Our repertoire is never boring and there is always something for every musical taste. The programme ranges from Welsh classics and songs from the Shows to Disney. The bigger the choir gets, the wider our repertoire of songs becomes”, she declared.
Already scheduled for 2019 are concerts for a local charity and for the Royal Air Force to follow an RAF commemoration concert last year in Sleights near Whitby. The choir will also sing in Great Edstone again this year and join other local choirs in a song festival in Bridlington.
