Busy planning for the future at Ryedale Dog Rescue

by Handymag

During lockdown, many of you will have found companionship and comfort with your dogs. Whether it’s a good walk in the sunshine or a cosy-up on the sofa, our dogs are always there for us. But there are still many dogs that aren’t as fortunate as ours, which is why Ryedale Dog Rescue is still working hard to rescue and re-home dogs in Ryedale and East Yorkshire. Sadly, because of social distancing guidelines, we can’t re-home the dogs currently in our care or take in new ones, but we’re still as busy as ever.

The spring and summer months are traditionally when we do most of our fundraising. I know a lot of you will have seen us at our pop-up shop, and events around the area. Of course, all our face to face fundraising has been hit by Covid 19: we can no longer get out and about to raise funds, so we have turned our hand to some different (and safe) ways of raising funds. Volunteers have been busy selling plants from the walls of their gardens, making planters from pallets and we’ve even had a brood of hens who have donated the money from the sale of their eggs!

We’ve also been busy online with two new fund-raising schemes. With our ‘Sponsor a Kennel’ scheme you can sponsor one of Ryedale Dog Rescue’s kennels for either six or twelve months. In return you get a thank you gift pack and updates on the dog staying in your kennel.

Or you can always help to ‘Mend Beryl’s Broken Heart’. Beryl, one of our rescue dogs needs an operation to cure the heart condition Patent Ductus Artertiosus (PDA). PDA is curable and the operation will allow Beryl to lead a long and healthy life. If left untreated Beryl will likely develop heart failure which would lead to an early death. She is such a happy young dog who really deserves a second chance after such a traumatic start in life. We need to raise £5,000 for Beryl’s operation, so if you’d like to help you can find more details here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Mendberylsbrokenheart
As well as Sponsoring a Kennel or curing Beryl, you can still make a general donation to us, by cheque, PayPal or direct transfer into our bank. We know times are hard, so any amount you can spare would be fantastic. Details are on our website at: http://www.ryedaledogrescue.com/donate/
And don’t forget, if you’re a UK taxpayer you can complete a gift aid form, so we can claim an extra 25% on your donation from HMRC. You can find details on our website and if you’ve donated to us in the past four years, it’s still not too late to send us a form.

The Ryedale Dog Rescue volunteers don’t know when they’ll be free to get out and about again, but until then we’re busy planning for the future. Please keep up to date with events on our website www.ryedaledogrescue.com , or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/119676924726382/

Stay safe and love your dogs!
