If you’re aged between seven and 70 and fancy learning to play an instrument or joining a friendly, enthusiastic band, then Swinton & District Excelsior Band would love to hear from you!
Players of all abilities are welcome. Even if you’ve never picked up an instrument before, you can come along to their Training Band practice for free one-to-one and group lessons from Senior Members. Instrument loan is included, too, so you can start learning straight away. Experienced musicians are also needed in the Main Band. They’re especially keen to hear from trombone, cornet and tuned percussion players, but other instrument players are always welcome – with open arms!
Ever since forming in 1936, the band has gone from strength to strength. There are now 30 members who form the Main Band and around 20 members in the Training Band, and over the past 70 years they have played across the UK in concerts, competitions, stage shows and they have twice appeared at the National Finals.
By joining Swinton & District Excelsior Band, you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive and like-minded group of musicians who also organise fun social events, activities, competitions and concerts throughout the year.
Check out their Facebook page and website www.swinton-band.com to see previous events and have a look at what’s on this year.
