Competition — Name the Malton Horse & Sparrow

by Jared Smith
Malton Town Council and Malton in Bloom commissioned a horse sculpture in 2019 which sits on the skyline of Broughton Rise, opposite the Taylor Wimpey estate.

Our horse, in jumping stance and made out of black-painted steel, has no name, so the competition is to come up with a name for the horse.

In 2020, we commissioned a sparrow to sit on a tree stump at Sparrows Nest garden, at the top of Newbiggin. Our sparrow, made out of bronze painted steel, again has no name, so the competition is to come up with a name for the sparrow.

The top prizes are to win plaque with your name, which we will put up at the Horse and Sparrow, and a £20 W.H.Smiths voucher.

The top 10 entries will go forward to the Mayor of Malton and Malton Town Council, who will select the best names. The age limit for entries is 15 years.  The closing date of the competition is 31st October 2020.

Please print and fill in the form (pdf below) and return to Malton Town Council, The Wesley Centre, 10-12 Saville Street, Malton YO17 7LL to enter the competition.  Or, email deputy.clerk@malton-tc.gov.uk.
