We have a lot of responsibility on our shoulders — being a dad, a husband, a brother, an uncle, the odd job man, the lift, the coach…the list goes on. It can be difficult finding time to meet new, likeminded people, especially if you’re new to the area, have lost touch with old friends or you’re just not the type of guy to go out and look (although deep down you really want to)! I know that’s how I felt when I moved here a few years ago.

For me, the COVID pandemic (more specifically lockdown 1 & 2) highlighted the benefit of having a solid group of like-minded guys around you who you can ping a message to just for a catch up if you want to. It also highlighted to me the importance of having regular meetups — sports teams, nights out (food & drink) and even family get-togethers (BBQs etc.) to temporarily “escape” from the “real world” responsibilities we shoulder on a day to day basis.
So, in November 2020 (in the middle of Lockdown 2), I set up “Dads & Lads – Ryedale.” A group for dads, and non-dads, (guys 30+ really), living in the Ryedale area who maybe also feel they would benefit from a similar group.
If you’re interested in joining our group you can either join our Facebook group or, for those who aren’t on social media, we also have a WhatsApp group which we can forward a link to you if you email email@example.com.
