The fact that there is a shortage of dentists, NHS or otherwise, is not news. It is also not going to change anytime soon. If you are registered with a dentist it’s advisable to keep your appointments.

If you’re not registered I would encourage you to register BEFORE you have a dental problem. You may have to go on a waiting list for either an NHS or private dentist.
So what can you do to try to avoid dental problems? The following advice applies:
Brush twice a day for 2 minutes with fluoride toothpaste, don’t rinse after brushing.
Use interdental sticks or floss after your last meal and rinse away any debris you may find before you brush.
Try not to snack between meals and avoid sugar in your drinks.
If you have heavily filled teeth avoid very hard foods.
This is the most basic advice and at Howardian Dental we will carefully review your daily habits and diet to avoid future dental problems.
This detailed and personalised advice has helped many of our patients to really turn their mouths around and, after all, isn’t that what dentists are supposed to do, not just find problems but to explain why they are occurring.
We have a short waiting list but continue to welcome new patients. Come and see how we can help you.
