Eco-Friendly Stoves

by Handymag

Many of us, both in our home and work life, are striving to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment – not only for ourselves but for future generations. And the heating industry is no exception.

Focus Fireplaces and Stoves have long been trusted in York for over 30 years, with over 10,000 installations and a reputation for delivering exceptional service and the latest innovative products. Managing Director Julian Somers explains why it’s important to buy for the future and safeguard against fire emissions standards with an Ecodesign stove.

“The Stove Industry Alliance (SIA) Ecodesign Ready scheme has been put into place to ensure new British wood burning stoves meet high environmental standards ahead of the Ecodesign requirements, minimising emissions for cleaner burning products now, as opposed to later. The new scheme means that you can choose an Ecodesign compliant stove or fire for your home right away.”

As a member of The (SIA) Retail Group, Focus are one of the leading retailers of wood burning stoves and fireplaces, selling the latest environmentally friendly Ecodesign Ready appliances and providing pre-sales advice and after sales support.

Julian says: “You can be safe in the knowledge that you are heating your home with one of the most eco-friendly stoves and fires available, which meet European Ecodesign stove and fire emission standards way ahead of 2022, when they will come into effect.”

An eco-friendly wood burning stove is a technical appliance as well as a piece of furniture in your home, and as such should be installed and commissioned by a HETAS approved engineer, and in accordance with the legally binding Building Regulations. Hence having an appropriate installer like Focus Fireplaces and Stoves is essential.

The word ‘professional’ is dear to Julian’s heart. “Using an approved installer gives you complete piece of mind – when the correct stove is chosen, and correctly installed, you will be supplied with a certificate of installation for when you sell your house or should you ever have an insurance claim relating to the stove’s installation. Our professionalism makes us stand out. This means listening carefully to our customer’s requirements and offering first class service both before and after installation. For instance, we think it’s very important to survey a property prior to any installation, which helps us offer the best possible advice. There is also a willingness to look after our customers in the long term by servicing the gas fire or stove for its working life.”

Julian says that offering a large choice of products is crucial. “Our showroom displays fireplaces and stoves to suit all requirements, but whether it’s the ultimate model or something to suit a more modest budget, we never compromise on quality. Our products are meant to last, and be at the centre of people’s lives, and we never forget that.”

Outdoor living

Nothing sounds better than spending a relaxing evening outside by a toasty fire. For aesthetes who value the style of their outdoor spaces, an outdoor heater provides the perfect balance. Julian says: “Decorate with fire, host an informal get-together or prepare a delicious homemade meal – the choice is yours. Our outdoor living collection contains a wide range of outdoor fireplaces, grills, pizza ovens and accessories.”
