In October 2016, both Sam and I were invited onto one of the first cruises operated by the recently launched ‘Seven Seas Explorer’. This ship featured on the Channel 5 programme as ‘the most luxurious ship ever built’. It certainly lived up to expectation as we sailed from Naples to Athens over a five night period.

Sam and I were so impressed that we made a decision to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary cruising with Regent Seven Seas in October of last year. This was on the Seven Seas Mariner ship.
After a pre-cruise night included at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles we cruised south down to Mexico and our first port of call, Ensenada. Over a 10 night period we called in at Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and San Diego in the USA as we headed north back to Los Angeles. In every location there were numerous excursions and they are all included in the cruise fare.
All meals and drinks are also included in the fare, apart from very fine wines, so no need to worry about what we spent on board. Gratuities are also included so no tipping required!
The ships within the fleet are not large by any means, but could comfortably accommodate up to 1500 passengers. BUT Regent Seven Seas equip their ships to take a maximum of 750 passengers so the space on board is amazing. This became very apparent after a couple of days when you began to wonder where all the other cruise passengers were hiding and the ship was full!
Sam and I were certainly spoilt on board ‘Mariner’. We were made to feel very special as the crew began to learn our preferences for food and drinks. Now that does bring me to the food on board…simply wonderful! And always a fantastic choice—and the service was just everything you would expect it to be on Regent Seven Seas.
This year Regent will launch their sixth ship, Grandeur of the Seas, and it really is taking cruising up to another level.
