with the Friday Rehearsal Orchestra, Kirkbymoorside

The Friday Rehearsal Orchestra in Kirkbymoorside is believed to be Ryedale’s only amateur orchestra. Meeting on Fridays in the Autumn and Spring, players come together to play for learning and enjoyment, without the need for concerts. Conducted by Rob Ellis, and with orchestra leader Paul de Villanueva, rehearsals have always been friendly and enjoyable.

Organiser Richard Sigsworth says “we have players coming from as far as York and Scarborough to take part in the orchestra.

There is a great atmosphere and both the social and musical elements are very important to us. The orchestra plays music ranging from Beethoven to Borodin and sometimes something a little more challenging as well!”

Anyone interested in joining should ideally have some previous orchestral experience and moderate proficiency on their instrument.

For details of any vacancies (string players especially welcome) or more information contact Richard on Kirkbyfro@gmail.com or via Emily on Facebook.
