24 hours to search for the wildlife on your doorstep

This summer, we’ve all got to know and appreciate our own wild spaces better. Whether that’s planting wildflowers in your windowbox, watching the birds fly overhead on your daily walk or just lying in the grass in your garden, our wild spaces have become precious natural lifelines as we’ve all been spending more time indoors.

But how well do you really know your wild space?

Discover who comes to visit and join our 24 hour Great Yorkshire Creature Count! Taking place from midday to midday on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June, join Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to take a 24-hour snapshot of the creatures and flowers that call our wild spaces home. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a windowbox, a yard, a garden or a plot of land – any wild space will do! The count runs for 24 hours, but you can join for any amount of time you like, as many times as you like!

Not only is this a great way to get to know your local wild space and wildlife better, it’ll give us valuable information about wildlife in Yorkshire. Did you know that all the gardens in the UK add up to more wild space that all of the nature reserves in the country combined? Your wild patch is a lifeline for local wildlife and we want to know who’s using it!

Go to ywt.org.uk/great-yorkshire-creature-count to be the first to hear about our big plans, and sign up to receive our emails. We can’t wait for you to join us!
