St Leonards’ Hospice Rainbow of Ribbons returns in July

The St Leonard’s Hospice Rainbow of Ribbons will be making a welcome return for the 7th year this July, and will be more poignant than ever.

We are inviting you to come together to remember loved ones, celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, births or to thank our friends and neighbours for being there for us. Dedicate a ribbon in a colour of your choice, write your message and then make a donation to support patient care at St Leonard’s Hospice.

Hospice staff and volunteers will then handwrite all of the ribbons ready for display, however we are also hoping to give you the opportunity to be able to write your own ribbon if possible – venues and dates to be confirmed through our website and social media channels.

Throughout July the Hospice will be displaying hundreds of ribbons at the front of the Hospice on Tadcaster Road, at Selby Abbey and in the Market Place in Easingwold. For the first time, there will also be a virtual display on the Hospice website – coming very soon. This means that whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, or wherever in the world you are, you can visit the display whenever you wish to, and can search for your ribbon.

We will also send you a specially designed Rainbow of Ribbons card. if you would like one, which you can keep as a reminder of your loved one, your reason to celebrate or to send as a thank you to someone.

Sue Edwards, in memory and legacy fundraiser at the Hospice, said “This is a lovely way to celebrate people who have added colour to your life. The beautiful display of multi-coloured ribbons will be a touching reminder of all those we have loved and are no longer with us, and the people we are grateful to have in our lives now. You will also be supporting the work of St Leonard’s Hospice.”

Colours available are red, yellow, pink, green, purple, orange, blue and white. If you would like to dedicate a ribbon online you can do so by visiting or calling Sue Edwards on 01904 777 777.
