and make a difference to policing in your area
by PCSO Andy Smith
We value the opinion of our communities and know that many of you have thoughts on local policing and how we can keep North Yorkshire safe together. So, we’d like to invite you to work with us as part of our first virtual Independent Advisory Group—also known as an IAG.
An IAG is a panel of volunteers who are committed to working with us by providing advice and support on a number of issues. The aim of the group is to improve local policing, with you acting as a vital link between your community and the police.
By joining the IAG you’ll be invited to provide feedback and opinions on issues such as critical incidents, operational practices and planning and force policies and procedures and the impact they may have on your area.
By working with us, your feedback and guidance will help us to shape our policing response, benefitting your local communities and beyond.
Don’t worry, we’re not asking you to attend lengthy monthly meetings or anything like that. It’s a virtual group so everything will be done via email, surveys or online. We might just ask that you provide your feedback within a set timescale.
If you’re interested in joining our virtual IAG please email iag@northyorkshire.police.uk and give us an idea of why you’d like to take part, a summary of your experience and interests and links to your community. Please also include your location, so we can contact you on the matters that affect your community the most.
Just to say, having a criminal record or being of no fixed address does not mean you cannot take part. We are looking for people who care about their community and want to be involved. The only requirement is being able to receive and send emails.
We look forward to hearing from you and working together to keep North Yorkshire safe.
