Pioneering York organisation ‘Keep your pet’ (KYP) is celebrating its first ten years in 2022 and the dog walk is the highlight of our year. Numbers at the event have increased every year and the last one attracted more than 200 walkers & 100 dogs – quite a spectacle!
There will also be refreshments on sale from 10.15, including home-made cakes, savouries, hot soup & hot drinks, and stalls selling crafts & toys, a dog agility course for all comers, spot prizes, a tombola, & live music.
Walkers can register from 10.15 and there will be & events taking place from then until the start at 11am. Entry fee is £5.00 per dog or family. The entrance is from Knavesmire Road, near the Racecourse buildings (YO23 3EH). Walkers can do any distance they wish.
KYP’s service is provided free to pet owners by volunteers recruited and checked by the organisation. The dog walk provides urgently-needed funds to run the organisation. The last walk raised almost £2,000 but funds are even more urgently needed now, after so many of our events had to be cancelled in 2020/2021. A KYP spokesperson said:
“We rely on this event to raise funds for our work, especially following Covid. It is always an enjoyable day, with a lovely atmosphere & all the dogs behaving impeccably. The event has become well known & our supporters travel from a wide area.”
