Annie, the world’s most loved Broadway musical, is based on the popular comic strip heroin little orphan Annie.
With music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and book by Thomas Meehan, NEMusicals York brings a new and fresh production of Annie while still keeping all the amazing values of the show. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years, setting a record for the Alvin Theatre. It spawned numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical’s songs Tomorrow and It’s a hard knock life, Easy Street and Little Girls are among its most popular numbers.
NEMusicals team have pulled together a terrific cast with Annie being played by Libby Henderson and Lana Harris on alternate nights, Emma Louise Dickerson (Oliver, Grease, Follies) plays Grace, Steve Tearle (Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof) plays Oliver Warbucks, Lee Harris plays Miss Hannigan, Perri Ann Barley (Oliver, A Christmas Carol) plays Kitty St Regis and Kevin Bowes (Scrooge in A Christmas Carol) plays Rooster Hannigan with fantastic cameos from all the orphans and ensemble this promises to be an amazing event.
