Malton Museum is looking for local people to join the museum, both as trustees and volunteers. Have you got an interest in the fascinating history of Malton and Norton? Can you give some time to help the museum become even more successful?
Malton Museum’s history goes back over 80 years. From those early beginnings and through many changes, and even the loss of any physical venue, the museum has kept going, returned to the Subscription Rooms and is still going from strength to strength.
The main collection of the museum is the Roman history of the towns covering 400 years of Roman occupation. New artefacts are regularly being added following recent excavations.
More recently, the museum has held exhibitions looking at different aspects of the history of our two towns. The story of the importance of food in the market town, and an exhibition of Horsepower in Ryedale, from the Roman cavalry to the present day, highlighting the thriving horse breeding, racing and training businesses, and giving an insight in to what makes these towns tick and what they are today.
There are many ways in which volunteers can be involved—research, tour guiding, outreach, social media and front of house, and we would especially welcome expressions of interest from anyone who would be interested in joining our Board of Trustees. The Museum is fully accredited by Arts Council England, and it is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
If you would like to know more about becoming a trustee or a volunteer please email email@example.com.
