A Word From Our Chairman

The last two years have – more than ever – highlighted the fantastic work of carers up and down the country, and particularly so at The Hall.

We’d like you to meet some of the wonderful team there who are caring for your loved ones so that you can see why we’re so proud of every one of them.

This month we’re meeting Edna, our Deputy, who has been with us for almost a decade.

Edna – my care story

I’m incredibly proud of how everyone has pulled together and supported one another.

“I joined the team at The Hall in 2013 as a night carer, but I was no spring chicken! I’d spent 19 years in previous jobs and was looking for a new opportunity after moving to the area with my husband. I’d recently had my eldest son, and a night job at The Hall was the perfect fit for me and my family.

“I’d started a level 3 qualification in a previous job, which I continued at The Hall, and progressed to be a night senior within a year. This included dispensing medication, and supporting more junior members of the team.

“In 2020, the position of Deputy came up, and although I knew I wanted to progress, I was concerned that stepping up would be very different to my experience working nights. However, I was offered a lot of support by Nicky, the Home Manager.

“Mentored by her, I realised that I’d be an excellent fit and I got the job. I’m so glad I did because I love it.

“The best part of the job is interacting with the residents and their families. You never meet the relatives as night staff, and it’s lovely to chat with them.

“The last couple of years have obviously been a challenge, but the team is very close and cares a lot about each other. I’m incredibly proud of how everyone has pulled together and supported one another.

“When I’m not at The Hall, I love spending time with my two sons, who have so much energy – so lots of swimming, bike riding and having fun.

“I couldn’t think of a better place to work in terms of support, colleagues and customers. They’re a second family to me, and I’m delighted to be part of the team.”
