Can you help your local Library? Norton Hive are looking for volunteers

by Imogen Smith

Norton Hive Library and Community Hub would like to wish everyone a Happy and Successful 2019! The trustees and volunteers at the library are looking forward to a successful 2019 where they hope to be able to offer more events for the community, especially more craft activities.

This community library, run by volunteers since 2016, has come a long way during the last two years. The dedicated team do a fantastic job of running the library. Not only do they find volunteering interesting and rewarding, it has also become a place to make new friends, be part of a vibrant group and generally enjoy a sense of well-being.

And there is a lot more to running a library than just shelving books! Duties include: stock rotation; assisting customers with their enquiries; helping with IT queries etc. Training is available to help support the volunteers. Alongside these essential roles are a variety of activities for the local community to join in with, these include Knit and Natter, Sing Live at the Hive, Story reading for children and craft activities.

To extend the range of activities that can be offered new volunteers are essential. Do you have a couple of hours a week to spare on a regular basis? Do you have a particular talent that you can share to enhance the facilities that are offered at this community hub? If so, they would be delighted to hear from you. Come along to the library and chat to a member of the team.
