Jump on Board

to celebrate the 50th anniversary of North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Please the whole family by taking a trip on the 24 miles of heritage railway at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR). Launched with families in mind and new for 2023, Kids Go Free, so children aged 15 and below travel free at all times. There’s also the new Unlimited Annual Pass for £40, meaning families can jump on board as many times within the year, on standard timetables services only. Single-use, shorter journeys tickets can also be purchased for £15 and allow passengers to travel up to two stops.

With stunning scenery, rich cultural heritage, and of course, its iconic steam and heritage diesel locomotives, it’s no wonder the NYMR is a hugely popular choice for family days out. What’s more, the NYMR is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year with even more to see, do and commemorate at the iconic attraction.

On board, families will be impressed by the beautiful views of the North York Moors National Park passing them by, whilst sitting in the comfort of the period carriages and taking in the sights and sounds of this popular living museum and attraction. The railway is brought to life by volunteers who are happy to share stories to spread the excitement, knowledge, and smiles.

During a visit to the heritage railway, families will get the opportunity to explore the heritage stations and engine sheds to see how the engineers maintain and conserve the locomotives and can treat themselves to a delicious tasty treat at one of the iconic tea rooms at Pickering, Goathland, or Grosmont.

As a charity, every penny spent on tea, cake, memorabilia, and tickets goes back into funding memorable experiences for families visiting in the future, and fulfilment for volunteers and staff.
