Are you aged between 18 and 60, female or male, and considering further income? Want a new challenge? Would you like to gain new skills and support your community? Becoming one of our On-Call firefighters may be just the job for you!
Malton Fire Station is actively seeking on-call firefighters. These are members of the community who are paid to provide an on-call service, responding to emergency calls in the same way as full-time firefighters, using the same appliances and equipment, but who are ‘on-call’ from their primary employment, rather than at a fire station.
On-call firefighters are a vital part of today’s fire and rescue service. Apart from a few hours a week for training sessions and to carry out other pre-arranged duties, on-call firefighters only attend the fire station when they have received an emergency call-out. Each on-call firefighter carries a pocket alerter, which is activated when they are required to support an emergency incident; this could be a road traffic collision, a building fire, animal rescue, supporting other incidents etc. They have a maximum of 4 minutes to report to the fire station and mobilise the necessary appliance(s).
Your community needs you…
On-call firefighters respond from home and/or work, day and/or night. No previous experience is required as comprehensive training and uniform is provided.
If you would like to give back to your community and want a new challenge, a boost to your income, or require further information then please get in touch.
Drop into Malton Fire Station on a Tuesday evening between 18:30 and 20:30 and ask to speak to the watch manager (Craig Steeley) or one of the crew managers to meet our team and see what we are all about and what we do.
For more information please contact the local Scarborough & Ryedale Recruitment & Training Watch Manager Jon Wilson on 01609 780150 or 07817 485024.
