Depending on how organised you are, your Christmas presents will either be wrapped and ready to go under the tree, or just items on a ‘to do’ list for December. Most of the RDR volunteers are organised types, and will have things well in hand. But our woofers aren’t good planners and, like all dogs, leave things to the last minute.
A dog’s ideal presents are a loving home with a warm, comfy bed, lots of fun walks, good food and plenty of toys and treats. And while most of the dogs at Ryedale Dog Rescue find the home of their dreams quickly, we do have a few long-term residents that are more difficult to rehome.
Whilst they are staying with us, our dogs get plenty of love and care, and our small army of volunteers work hard to raise the money to help us do this. But it’s a tough task. Depending how many dogs we have in our care, our monthly costs are between £3,000 – £4,500. For example, kenneling costs for each dog are £270 a month, micro chipping (which is a legal requirement) is £17, vaccinations cost £63 and neutering costs are between £90-£200 depending on the size of the dog.

We can’t raise this money without your fantastic help and support all year round, but especially in winter, especially this one, when we can’t get out and about to raise money. If you can help us this year, please head to our website at http://www.ryedaledogrescue.com/donate/.
