Ryedale Environment Group

by Jared Smith
Ryedale Environment Group (REG) is an umbrella organisation for local environmental groups that started two years ago, enabling us to co-ordinate actions and events and promote discussion across the whole district.

Some local groups have been going a long time, such as Kirkbymoorside Environment Group; others have started more recently for instance in Pickering and Kirby Misperton. Many issues can be dealt with at a village level, like litter picking; but others do need a more co-ordinated approach. Step up REG.

Activites and groups which REG promote include Pickering Hedgehog Rescue, Wildflower initiatives, Cross area Transport, Circular Economy Malton, Flood prevention, Recycling groups, Composting experts, Waste Apple juicing and more besides. It is a good way to make friends whilst doing something positive.

Working together means that good ideas get spread around.

Recently REG organised an on-line Environment Week with a variety of talks and discussions; including an event where we were able to question Kevin Hollinrake, our MP, on environmental matters.

Working together means that good ideas get spread around. It encourages new initiatives in new places. Is anything going on where you live? If not, why not? Have you got some good ideas? Have a look on the REG website and see how you might be a part of this. Every extra person is useful and welcome.
