COVID-19 has certainly impacted on our fundraising events, not only on the money we raise, but also on the social aspect. We have really missed being able to meet up with everyone. Many people have come along to our sales for a number of years and we have come to think of them as friends. Although a lot of very hard work is involved in organizing the Jumble Sales, we all enjoy the hustle and bustle and banter on the day.
Charities have really suffered this year with their funds taking a monumental hit.
We did manage to hold three jumble sales way back at the beginning of 2020 and we also raised some money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The total raised during the year was £6703, which brings the amount raised since we started way back in 1986 to £352,564. We have dates reserved for 2021 for jumble sales and hope it won’t be too long before we can start up again. Charities have really suffered this year with their funds taking a monumental hit. We can only start up again when restrictions allow us and we feel sure it is safe to do so.
We will keep you updated via the Handy Mag and you can also find out information via our village website. Go to sheriffhutton.co.uk where you will find the Jumblies page on the Community section and also look for The Jumblies on the Village News Page which is updated monthly.
