So It’s December… How has that happened? By Kathryn Craven at St Leonard’s Hospice

by Handymag

This year for me has absolutely flown by… I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the people in Ryedale I have met thus far, for their support and generosity which has enabled me to raise awareness of the great work we do here at the Hospice and also out in our area with our Hospice@Home Team.

With this in mind I have some Ryedale news to tell you about.

Our St Leonard’s Hospice Christmas Cards are now available to purchase in Ryedale! You can pick up a pack at Pickering Pharmacy, 22 Market Square or at Helmsley Arts Centre.

I will be holding another ‘Community Coffee Break’ in December with Liam Bamforth, the Community Banker from NatWest, in Pickering Library on Monday 10th December. Look out on our social media and locally for more information.

I have also been busy making up some Ryedale hampers, and once again have had some fantastic support from local businesses such as – Mannion’s, Helmsley Walled Garden, Hunters of Helmsley, The Feathers Hotel, Ampleforth Plus, Helmsley Brewery and Birdgate Chocolatiers. The hampers will be placed around the area so please look out for them and pick a lucky square for a chance to win!!

A first for us this year will be our St Leonard’s Hospice Christmas Tree at the Helmsley Christmas Tree Festival. We are thrilled to be part of such a great community event and I hope you all enjoy our tree. All our decorations have been sourced from our charity shops so it really has been a team effort!

Throughout December we will also be holding our ‘Look a Twit in a Festive Knit’ fundraiser. If you and your colleagues/friend’s fancy looking a ‘Twit in a festive kit’ please do get in touch.

Christmas is a special time here at the Hospice and during December we have choirs and musicians coming along to entertain our patients and their loved ones, including mince pies and mulled wine for everyone! I for one am very much looking forward to this.

I would like to sign off by wishing you all a very Happy Christmas… see you in 2019!

Warmest Wishes
Kathryn
