Terry Kettle is a director of All 1 Network, a vibrant and flourishing network of like-minded business owners in York. Started during lockdown, the network has attracted a large number of business owners and enjoys an active and supportive membership.
Terry has a background in sales and marketing. For seventeen years, he worked with the steel stockholding trade in the Midlands. After a seven year stint at CPP, York, managing around 200 people, he then spent a year in advertising sales and ten years as co-owner of a successful business network in York. He also set up Supply Sales, a leaflet distribution company delivering marketing materials direct through local letterboxes.
During this time, he saw a gap in the market for a different sort of business network, so formed All 1 Network with business partner David Oliver. According to Terry, the Network does not just provide a place for businesses to “network”, for it is also external facing: it offers an opportunity for members to market their services to the general public.
Terry said: “This last year has proved that business owners need support, and All 1 Network’s unique mix of networking and connecting provides the right mechanism. Our members have a wealth of experience and expertise, they are positive and friendly, and they support each other, both professionally and personally. I have been surprised at how many businesses have been keen to join All 1 Network during the pandemic.
“Zoom networking has, of course, been essential; but, despite the limitations, members have been positive about the experience. Getting to know our members, and keeping meetings ‘light’, means that there are no uncomfortable silences. And we work hard to make the right connections to help businesses grow, whether you’re a sole trader or a big brand looking for local contacts.”
Terry is eager to meet members face-to-face when lockdown eases. “I have always loved talking to different business owners and making meaningful connections with other businesses who can support them,” he said.
