St. Leonards Hospice’s New Legacy Awareness Campaign: ‘Have the Will to Make a Difference’

by Jared Smith

St. Leonard’s Hospice marks the start of its ‘Make a Will Month’ with the launch of a new legacy campaign: ‘Have the Will to Make a Difference.’ It is designed to increase awareness of the importance of gifts in Wills to funding patient care.

Last year, the care provided to one in every four patients was funded by legacies. This is why the Hospice chose this popular annual initiative. Seven local solicitors have provided their Will writing services in return a donation to St Leonard’s.

Dawn Clements, Director of Income Generation at St Leonard’s Hospice, said:

Legacy donations are a vital part of fundraising at the Hospice. It is only through the generosity of people leaving gifts in Wills that we can continue to provide the best quality of care and support for anyone with a terminal or life-limiting illness.

However, there are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to legacy gifts, in particular people thinking they have to donate large sums of money. This is why we have launched this awareness campaign during ‘Make a Will Month.’ Any donation — however large or small — that is included in a Will today will significantly make a difference and ensure that we can continue to keep serving the local community in years to come.”
