This popular village event gets bigger and better each year and showcases the best in local produce and crafts, beautiful flowers, photography and the ever-popular children’s section.
With a total of 99 classes being judged in 8 sections; Fruit and vegetables, Flowers, Flower Decoration, Handicraft, Produce, Children’s Section and the Special Class – which has classes for the heaviest pumpkin, heaviest marrow and A Pen and Ink Drawing. The Children’s section sees some new additions to include Homemade flower, 3 cheese straws, a painted rock, photo of York and photo of People. Also new for this year, is a section on Photography with adult classes in Christmas, Blue, Blossom, People and York.
Winners in each category will receive a trophy. Show schedules are available from various outlets in Strensall and includes an exhibit entry form and a list of sections and classes.
On the actual day, the Village Hall will be open from 9.30am to 11 am for entries to be made to the Secretary. Judging will then take place and the Hall will be re-opened at 2.30pm when all the entries will be on display along with the Judges’ awards.
Even if you are not entering, it’s well worth finding time to pop down to the Village Hall at 2.30pm to have a look at the creative efforts on display from the local community. Admission is just 50p with accompanied children free. Refreshments will be available, along with a sale of the show produce to finish the day.
