Events are moving swiftly in the travel industry, and as I write this the UK is about to embark upon the vaccination process to protect against COVID-19. It’s hard to think back but this time last year, in the pre-coronavirus world, we would probably have guessed that COVID-19 was a new star or perhaps a spaceship; we know differently now of course!
It’s been a stop-start year for most people, and for Conexo Travel we have endured much uncertainty as a result of the ever changing travel rules and corridors, and even when we would be permitted to open our doors.
So we are now back open and we continue to operate an appointment system as this allows us to ensure social distancing, as well as ensuring nobody makes a wasted journey. Most travel is not impulsive so we feel that this helps us to meet people safely and efficiently. To make an appointment, call us or visit our Facebook page.
January is traditionally our busiest time of year, and with the news of the impending vaccine we are optimistic that this will indeed see brisk bookings. Of course many people have moved holidays on from this year to 2021, and as such availability will be more challenging next year. As a consequence, the number of holidays left to sell has diminished and many airlines are reducing and dropping selected routes, so we are urging people not to delay booking their 2021 holidays or they may miss out.

So which destinations will be hot in 2021? A recent ABTA survey is predicting bucket list trips such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, trekking the Inca Trail and searching for the Northern Lights to be popular in 2021.
The survey also found many people were keen to return to familiar favourites, with Turkey, the Balearics, the Canary Islands, Greece, the Algarve and Florida among the most popular spots for next summer.
We also want to bring you another reason to feel optimistic and reassured about booking your holidays in these uncertain times. Many of our suppliers have introduced peace of mind policies and guarantees, which allows customers to change their holiday plans without incurring any penalties; some even allow this up to 10 days before travel. This is great news for those people who are looking for that extra reassurance, so do get in touch with us and we can provide you with further details.
Thanks again for everyone’s kind words and thoughts this year, it means so much to us to receive the support of our community. And don’t forget to shop local in 2021 – including for your travel plans.
