York Opera, York’s leading amateur opera company, is proud to present Gilbert and Sullivan’s well loved HMS Pinafore. First performed in 1878, and one of the duo’s most popular operettas, it is a classic love story set on board a Royal Navy ship.

The story follows Ralph, a lovesick sailor and Josephine, the Captain’s daughter, madly in love but kept apart by social hierachy and the intentions of Sir Joseph Porter, First Lord of the Admiralty, ready to take Josephine for his own.

Filled with iconic musical numbers including ‘We sail the ocean blue’, ‘Never mind the why and wherefore’ and ‘When I was a lad’ this opera is loved by young and old alike.

York Opera’s latest presentation promises to be a feast for the eyes and ears. Get your tickets now from the Box Office 01904 623568 or online at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk.
