Yorkshire Arboretum Reopens for 2022

by Editorial Team

After its winter closure, staff and volunteers have been busy preparing the Yorkshire Arboretum for the 2022 season. The arboretum reopens on Tuesday 1st February, with café service available from Thursday 17th February.

The arboretum has partnered with Good Journey – an independent not-for-profit organisation working to transform car-free travel to visitor attractions in the UK – to offer discounts to car-free visitors. Car-free visitors will receive 50% off admission by selecting ‘Good Journey Half-Price Ticket’ through the arboretum’s booking system and presenting a CastleLine bus ticket or travelling by bike. The CastleLine bus runs directly to Castle Howard for the arboretum, stopping on the opposite side of the roundabout.

The arboretum will be open to the public 10 am-4 pm, with exclusive entry for members from 9 am. Arboretum Director Dr John Grimshaw said: “It will be fantastic to see visitors at the arboretum again. There is plenty to see at the arboretum in winter. On sunny days, the light illuminates the stems and bark of birches, as well as incipient alder and willow catkins. Winter aconites are flowering under the Lime Avenue, and snowdrops are coming on fast down by the lake. The prospect of coffee and cake will no doubt entice many looking to warm up on cold days!”
