Why you need an aquarium in the office

by Yorkshire Reefs

Having an aquarium in your office or showroom isn’t just a fantastic living piece of art, there are also some brilliant benefits for your staff, customers, and clients.

With reef aquariums containing some of the most colourful corals and fish, you can be sure it’ll be eye-catching. Here are three reasons you should consider an aquarium for your workplace.

Reduction of stress:

A study carried out in 2011 on the effects of nature contact in the workplace found a direct link between decreased stress and natural settings, and an aquarium with living fish produced higher positive moods in an office environment than any other natural or artificial elements. Just looking at an aquarium for 10 minutes has been proven to reduce blood pressure by an average of 16%, and heart rates by around 3%. With less stressed employees, you can expect higher engagement, productivity, creativity, and levels of well-being from your staff.

Reduction of anxiety in waiting rooms

Not only have aquariums been proven to lower stress and anxiety, it has now been found that aquariums in dentists and doctors’ offices will mean patients have a higher pain threshold. Not only will a beautiful tank add to the attractiveness of your waiting room, just five minutes of watching an aquarium before an appointment will mean your clients are more comfortable during their procedures.
